PREGNANCY & BABY SCANS

Is a private pregnancy ultrasound scan safe for my baby?

Yes. Ultrasound is widely used in pregnancy and is considered safe and non-invasive when performed by trained professionals using appropriate settings. Many parents choose a private pregnancy reassurance scan for peace of mind.

I’m worried – can you check that my baby is okay?

We understand how worrying pregnancy can be, especially in the early weeks or if this is your first baby. Depending on how many weeks pregnant you are, we can check reassuring signs such as the baby’s heartbeat (when appropriate), position, and basic measurements.

Do you provide a pregnancy scan report?

Yes. We provide a written pregnancy ultrasound report describing the findings and measurements from your scan.

Are pregnancy scans diagnostic?

No. Our pregnancy scans are non-diagnostic and provided for reassurance and bonding. We do not provide medical diagnoses or prescribe treatment. If anything needs further assessment, we will advise GP or NHS follow-up.

What pregnancy scans do you offer?

We offer a range of private pregnancy scans, including early pregnancy reassurance scans, gender scans, growth and wellbeing scans, and 3D / 4D baby scans.

From how many weeks can I have a pregnancy scan?

This depends on the scan type. Early pregnancy scans are usually available from around 6 weeks, while other scans are offered later in pregnancy.

Can you tell me my baby’s gender?

Yes. Gender scans are available from the appropriate gestational age, subject to clear visualisation.

What if something worrying is seen on the scan?

If anything appears outside the expected appearance, we will explain this clearly and advise the most appropriate next step, such as GP or NHS follow-up.

What if I have pain, bleeding, or feel unwell?

If you have severe pain, heavy bleeding, dizziness, or feel unwell, please seek urgent medical care from your GP, NHS 111, or A&E. A reassurance scan is not a substitute for urgent medical assessment.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You do not need a GP referral to book a private pregnancy scan.

GENERAL HEALTH SCANS

(Women’s, Men’s & MSK Scans)

What are general health ultrasound scans?

General health ultrasound scans provide a visual assessment of different parts of the body for reassurance and clarity. These scans are suitable for women and men with symptoms, concerns, or for personal reassurance.

Are general health scans diagnostic?

No. All general health scans are non-diagnostic. We provide a written ultrasound report describing findings and measurements, but we do not provide medical diagnoses or prescribe medication.

Do you provide a written report?

Yes. All general health scans include a written ultrasound report outlining what was seen during your scan. If further medical assessment is needed, we will recommend GP or specialist follow-up.

What is the difference between a report and a diagnosis?

A report describes what is seen on the ultrasound scan. A diagnosis is made by a clinician after considering scan findings alongside symptoms, examination, and medical history. We provide reports and guidance on next steps, but we do not prescribe treatment.

What women’s health scans do you offer?

We offer women’s ultrasound scans including pelvic ultrasound (uterus and ovaries), abdominal ultrasound, urinary tract ultrasound, thyroid scans, and lumps and bumps scans.

I have pelvic pain or ovarian concerns – can ultrasound help?

A women’s pelvic ultrasound scan can provide a clear visual overview of the uterus and ovaries. We document findings in a written report and advise GP follow-up if required.

Are internal scans performed?

Some women’s scans may involve an internal (transvaginal) ultrasound. This will always be explained clearly and only performed with your full consent.

What men’s health scans do you offer?

We offer men’s ultrasound scans including testicular ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, urinary tract ultrasound, hernia scans, thyroid scans, and lumps and bumps scans.

I’m worried about a lump or testicular pain – is ultrasound appropriate?

A testicular ultrasound scan is a gentle and non-invasive way to assess the testicles and scrotum. A written report is provided, with guidance on next steps if follow-up is required.

What is an MSK ultrasound scan?

An MSK ultrasound scan assesses muscles, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues. It is commonly used for joint pain, sports injuries, or musculoskeletal concerns.

Do MSK scans include a report?

Yes. MSK scans include a written ultrasound report describing findings and measurements, with recommendations for further clinical review if needed.

Do I need to prepare for my scan?

Some scans may require preparation, such as a full bladder or avoiding food for a few hours. Clear instructions will be provided at the time of booking.

Will I receive images?

Yes. Printed images are included with all scans.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book a private general health ultrasound scan without a GP referral.
